She had one sister who looked just like her and another who looked a lot like their mom. Plainly there was some sort of long-haired Siamese-point cat in her background!Bungalow Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10944360825235091121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-79655815988148786892008-07-16T18:46:00.000-05:002008-07-16T18:46:00.000-05:00I'm so sorry. Toffee is a blue mitted male and Truffles a tortie point.Julie Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08335126348681711755noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-7527392677792354242008-06-23T18:00:00.000-05:002008-06-23T18:00:00.000-05:00Thanks, cat. They need those claws to be able to climb up trees if a dog decides to chase them!

Declawing sounds like a nasty procedure from what I've read. So far, my husband and I have bought second-hand chairs and couches and lived with the claw marks. Perhaps I should post some pictures!

We're thinking of buying a new couch, though. We'd like to get something Mission or Craftsman style, with no upholstery on the sides, back, bottom edges etc -- we like that style AND it gives the cats less opportunity to scratch.Bungalow Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10944360825235091121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-11125712943906204242008-06-23T15:43:00.000-05:002008-06-23T15:43:00.000-05:00My husband said I could have a set of new leather ...My husband said I could have a set of new leather couches, both a full sized couch and a love seat with the nailheads trim. He even fell in love with the table that was featured with the couches at the store. The one thing he wants me to do is to declaw my Siamese. What is your opinion on this procedure.

I am sorry for your loss of your friend Amanda. Remember this old saying...
it is better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved before.Cathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17230935336731649413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-73423056191879380782008-06-20T20:22:00.000-05:002008-06-20T20:22:00.000-05:00Thank you, everyone, for your kind words.Jaime, ou...Thank you, everyone, for your kind words.

Jaime, our Amanda had that heart condition too, but we didn't know about it. She was frisking around right up to two days before she died. The clot cut off all circulation to her hind legs. The vet was treating her for that, but then she got another clot (or the first one moved) and she died.

I feel for you living with that worry for your cat. I hope he's having a good time in the meantime! Wish we could be as carefree as a cat!

We've lost a number of cats over the years -- some were young, some old, some went suddenly, some slowly. It's never easy whatever way it happens.

Again, thank all of you so much.Bungalow Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10944360825235091121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-52411860642637200032008-06-19T21:46:00.000-05:002008-06-19T21:46:00.000-05:00your post makes me want to cry :( i am so sorry fo...your post makes me want to cry :( i am so sorry for your loss. my cat has a heart condition that predisposes him to dying (or becoming paralyzed) at any point in time from a blood clot....so this hits me pretty close to home.

just think, heaven's a little brighter now!Jaimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10194510368311330032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2731653621954485934.post-5161811123737030802008-06-19T11:34:00.000-05:002008-06-19T11:34:00.000-05:00I'm so sorry Barbara! Time takes care of some of it, but not all...when I close my eyes, I can still feel the softness of Madison's fur, the lovely sound of her purring, all her silly and endearling little ways...and it has been ten years. Yours was a beautiful kitty...she will be missed without a doubt.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
